Really enjoyed reading history of Chambers in "Trails". Our family claims Scottish ancestry, but has no idea when we got here. My GGGrandfather is as far back as any of us can get. He was John S Chambers (aka Jackie), b.Jul 1814 NC d. 1900 Umpire, Howard Co, AR. Wife, Martha A Wilson b. 1816 NC d. Howard Co, AR. Children: George Thomas b. 27 Apr 1835 NC (my ggrandfather); Jane Adaline b. 02 Aug 1830 NC; Lucy Ann b. 1839 NC; William b. @1841 NC; Hiram Calhoun (aka Bill) b. @1843 NC, d. 1949 Howard Co., AR, married Sarah Adaline Davis 1875; Martha bb. 06 OCt 1845 NC; Andrew Wilson b. Jan 1849 York District SC d. 29 Jul 1929 Howard Co. Ark; Melvin N. b. @1854 SC; Samuel E. b. 1858 SC d. 28 May 1923 AR These names fit with Chambers names that you cite. I think that Jane may have married Samuel C More in Iredell Co. NC. My thinking is that Iredell Co is where they were before moving to York SC. I have them on 1850 Census in York, but without knowing John S's father's name I can get no farther. Since John S is aka Jackie, my thinking is that either his father or uncle was John, too. Unfortunately Chambers is such a common name in NC and marrying Martha A Wilson is certainly no help! Wish I knew what the "S" in John S stands for. He has a son named Samuel...
My GGrandfather named his children: Benjamin Franklin (my grandfather); John William (oldest son); George Lafayette; Caroline Telitha; Nancy Jane; Henry Wilson; James Edward; Thomas Valentine; Mary Ann; Lulu Arilly; Minnie Val Dora; Ada Eliabeth. The three oldest children were born in Marshall Co, Alabama. The rest were born in Arkansas. There has always been talk that they went to Georgia goldmining for a time, but I have no proof.
Just thought I would post this here because it might spark a memory of someone who visits the site.

Hi - I'm researching my Chambers line in East TN, western NC, north GA. Here's the quick list:

Donna Parker
James Donald Parker m. Linda Faye Presswood
Jacob Chambers -- Berta Louise Parker
Thomas Earl Chambers m. Pearl Alice Waters
Catherine McNelley
Marcus Chambers m. Elizabeth Huskey

I believe that this Marcus may be Marcus L. Chambers, born in 1833/34 in Macon County, NC, son of John Chambers and Nancy Welch, but I don't have any proof of that.

Our Chambers' DNA does tie in with that line, but we've only done the 12-marker test so far.

I'd love to correspond about this family.

Not related to the Chambers family in any way but just wanted to comment on the great site you have here. Looks like a great deal of effort went into it.

Wow! What a beautiful website. I am a descendent of John P Chambers
Birth 1757 in Halifax County, Virginia
Death
3 Apr 1843 in Robertson County, TN
He married Rebecca Graham in Rowan, NC in 1774
I have several other names past him but they are not documented.
These Chambers migrated to Robertson County, TN then on to Fayette County TN
Gools Berry Chambers 1802-1881
Marcus L Chambers 1833-1894
Robert L Chambers 1888-1923 (my grandfather)

Did not see where any of these Chambers' connect with yours but who knows maybe somewhere along the road.

Hi
This Patti Shirley Wilson

My grandfather was Tom Shirley of Roderfield. I was so excited to find him and see a picture of him. My children have never seen a picture of him. I do not have one. I was writing in your guest book and it just went blank. Anyway, my father was Donald Ray Shirley. He has a lot of brothers and sisters. I included all of Dad's half-brothers and sisters on his obituary. I Believe on of sissy's family members sent a nice flower arrangement and a card. i didn't have an address to say thank you so I hope I can do that now.

I hope to hear from you soon. I spent time with Grandpa Tom when I was in high school. My grandmother (mrytle shirley) died July 28, 1994.

This is just too cool!

Patti
